The story behind this project

A growing D2C pet-nutrition brand needed a site that could translate expert feeding guidance into a simple subscription journey-without overwhelming first-time buyers.

The target users: Busy pet owners (dogs/cats), often on mobile, seeking trustworthy nutrition with predictable deliveries and easy control.

Drop-off between plan selection and checkout

Drop-offs clustered at the quiz, plan selection, and checkout: the quiz felt long with little feedback, pricing/portions were opaque, and mobile forms were brittle. Weak tier differentiation and underplayed trust (vet creds, reviews, allergen clarity) caused hesitation. Post-purchase rigidity (no easy pause/skip/swap) drove early churn and support load.

Goals

  • Improve completion and conversion across quiz, plan selection, and checkout by simplifying steps and clarifying value.

  • Build trust and transparency around pricing, portions, ingredients, allergens, and expert credentials.

  • Strengthen the mobile experience with faster loads, accessible layouts, and resilient forms.

  • Increase average basket size through clear add-ons and bundles.

  • Reduce early churn and support load by making subscriptions flexible and self-serve.

Approach

  • Streamline onboarding to essential questions with real-time feedback, clear progress, and mobile-first validation.

  • Differentiate plans with obvious benefits, transparent price/portion breakdowns, and contextual trust signals.

  • Create a frictionless checkout that carries quiz data forward, minimizes fields, supports quick-pay options, and keeps an accurate sticky summary.

  • Enable self-serve retention: easy pause, skip, swap, and cadence tuning with proactive pre-renewal reminders.

  • Establish a lean design system and clear analytics to iterate rapidly and keep the experience consistent
