IFE
Inflight Entertainment UI
Year :
2023
Industry :
In-Flight Entertainment
Project Duration :
5 weeks

Overview
IFE is a concept for a modern in-flight entertainment system designed to enhance the passenger experience from takeoff to landing. The goal was to create a seat-back interface that is intuitive, visually engaging, and easy to use for travelers of all ages. The system includes access to media content, flight information, service requests, and destination guides - all accessible via a responsive, touch-first interface.

Design Approach
The UI was built with a dark, cabin-friendly theme using soft-glow elements and high-contrast text for visibility in low light. Large touch targets and a modular card-based layout ensure effortless navigation, even on turbulence-prone flights. The interface includes a persistent bottom navigation bar with quick access to Home, Entertainment, Flight Info, and Services - reducing the learning curve for first-time users.

Key Features
Content modules such as movie categories, a real-time flight map, a kids' entertainment zone, and food & beverage ordering were designed with scalability and localization in mind. Each module follows a consistent design system, allowing airlines to easily adapt branding, language, or partnerships without rebuilding the UI. The layout was optimized for 10-inch touch displays and seat-back remotes, with motion design used to guide interaction subtly.
Outcome
The IFE concept delivers a streamlined, branded entertainment experience that elevates passenger engagement while minimizing crew assistance needs. It balances usability with aesthetics, resulting in a future-forward interface that could easily integrate into commercial aviation environments. This project demonstrates the value of systemized design thinking in complex, high-stakes environments like airline UX.
